Nearly a hundred boatmen are employed during the tourist season (April to November) to accompany each group that takes part in this descent of the river. This period corresponds to the dry season when there is no more agricultural activity and their provides a significant economic supplement.
At the beginning of each season, these boatmen benefit from training supervised by a trainer guide from our offices to improve their behavior towards travellers, for the proper organization of bivouacs, advanced cooking, awareness of the respect for the environment, material management….
This constantly growing activity has contributed to the development of associative actions: equipping 13 football teams with sports equipment, the objective of which is to revitalize sports associations and stimulate exchanges between the various existing localities of the Menabe region.

See all testimonialsDynamic guide, very dedicated, with a sense of humour. He knows how to bend over backwards to satisfy everyone without leaving the others (not always easy with a group of 20). This trip made me want to come back to Madagascar, a destination I have dreamed of for a long time. Thank you !!! I will recommend your beautiful country...
Accomodation was excellent; service was a bit slow during meals despite restaurants being empty. Grace Lodge was best 10/10. Activities were interactive and scenery amazing. Highlights were reptile park day 1, jungle walks in Andasibe reserve, and hand feeding lemurs at canal hotel/park...
Very nice and well organised tour, our guide was very good and kind! He gave us a lot of interesting information about the country, the people and culture, the flora and fauna. The local guides were also very good in Ranomafana, Camp Catta and Isalo....
The boatmen/porter teams did a fantastic job, working so hard, always smiling, entertaining and teaching us a lot of Malagasy en route! All made every effort to make our trip enjoyable, safe and fun - the memories will last a lifetime.
